About Christy Springer

Christy Springer received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Music at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, where she studied saxophone performance under the instruction of Dr. Eric Nestler. She has also studied with Gary Whitman, David Nabb, and Jim Riggs and has performed in master classes for Joseph Lulloff, John Sampen, and Eugene Rousseau. She is currently the tenor saxophonist for the Dr. Eric Nestler Saxophone Quartet. She performs in various ensembles, orchestras, and musicals in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex and throughout the state. She has performed at conferences of the North American Saxophone Alliance and the World Saxophone Congress.

Christy Springer maintains a studio of 40 saxophone students in the Coppell and Lewisville, Texas school districts. Her students consistently excel in the various All-Region and Solo Competitions. Many of her students have been selected for the UIL 5A All-State Band as well as the UIL State Solo Contest. She has had a student in the first chair position for alto, tenor, and baritone saxophone in the top All-State Band. The Ferling etudes are used as the music for this audition process. Several of her students have gone on to study music in college. She is called upon to judge contests and instruct master classes throughout the metroplex and the state.
